Another stop on our trip was Rhodes, Greece. It was a wonderful place to walk, soak in the history, and experience Turkish coffee at Mevlana (established in the 14th century).
As we toured around, our guide pointed out that the city was laid out like a labyrinth, purposely designed to help defend it from pirates and other invaders. In addition, the castle was built with several layers of dry moats to prevent invaders from progressing any farther. It was very interesting!
Planning for contingencies is an important investment of time and thought. The “what ifs” need to be considered and addressed appropriately. The variables are seemingly endless, but the big ones tend to stand out. For example:
- Your estate plan and legal documents
- Long-term care
- Financial security
- Mobility issues and other health concerns
Be sure to consider the issues that are important to you and your family. It’s an exercise well worth the effort.
